DAY FIVE: Saturday - ALL GOOD THINGS MUST COME TO AN END
*Can I just note that flying back on a Saturday BLOWS! Won't do that again. Definitely feel like we were missing out on one of the biggest nights of the week in Vegas!
RESTAURANTS: - CHAMPAGNE BRUNCH (WYNN)
CHAMPAGNE BRUNCH - One Word - SUPERB - No I'm not just saying that because the $32.99 Champagne Brunch was comped - This BRUNCH buffet had everything except a Crepe station. Seriously folks, there were two omelete stations, french toast, pancakes, bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, eggs benedict, southwestern eggs benedict, grits, hash brown, sauteed breakfast potatoes, a milk & juice station, breakfast pizza, several other types of pizza, freshly slices meats, lobster, King Crab legs, sushi, several different types of fish, numerous italian dishes, fried chicken, mashed potatoes, an ENORMOUS DESSERT DISPLAY, a fresh ice cream / gelato station, etc etc etc... I think everyone gets the point! This buffet was truly an incredible way to end the trip! More importantly every buffet item was fresh & hot, the service was good, and the waitress even brought us memosas (sp?) because my buddy made a joke about not like straight champagne. This brunch is right up there with PARIS in my opinion... and to me that is a compliment in the truest sense of the word!
One side note... if you can do without the champagne the same brunch is $24.95 instead of $32.95. If I were paying I'd axe the champagne!
LAST MINUTE GAMBLING - You all knew I couldn't resist... I knew I needed to make about $100 to get ahead for the trip & headed to the blackjack table. 4 hands later I was feeling that some trips you just have to give up... down $40 in about 3 minutes I called it quits & decided what the heck... I'll drop the last $60 of that $100 in the good old $1 WOF... It's an end of the trip tradition for us to thow in money with our friends @ the chance of the dream... the $1 WOF Progressive. Well, we didn't hit that progressive, but we did win enough that my wife & I were only down about $40 for the trip + those buffet comps... not bad at all... our friends, who lose about 90% of the time, and who would say we win about 90% of the time, ended the trip up over $500 + comps (which I'll get into) plus we all had a lot of fun at WYNN! Another Great Trip!
AIRPORT - We got to the airport & the lines were much longer than usual... by the time we got to the gate we only had about 30 minutes.
I was thinking to myself that at least I wouldn't have a chance to give any money back to the 25 cent WOF machine which was at our gate. Well, you guessed it... Flight Crew is delayed. What the heck, in my mind I needed to make about $50 to get us ahead for the trip.... you guessed it... a $50 win. I gave $10 back & we ended the trip just about even! Sometimes things just work out...I've always said I'd rather be Lucky than Good!
WYNN COMP POLICY - If you're still reading, you'll be as confused by this as we were. Our friends chose to speak with a different host than we did. Our friends averaged $19/hand and played a total of 9 hours over 3 days.
My wife & I were told we averaged $26/hand and played a total of 16 hours over 4 days. Our friends received 2 free buffets from the Pit Boss. We received 5, including 2 Champagne brunches. Sound right so far? Here comes the funny part... our friends received a "Resort Rate" of $159 on the weekdays + $50 off their food bill. We received a CHUCKLE as our Host informed us that we needed $75/hand for at least 4 hours per day to receive Resort Rates + Food Comps or any shot at a comped night. She did note our buffet comps. The lesson here... if you ask for the buffet comps... it CAN effect future comps... but more importantly, it's ALL ABOUT WHO YOU CHOOSE AS YOUR HOST No bitterness from us though... we had fun, enjoyed the buffets, and will be back to WYNN. For the future though, I'd love to know if my wife & I should play together on one card as we did or separately on two cards as our friends did. I'd also love to know if those buffet comps @ the table influence future comps or not? I'll definitely follow-up w/WYNN & ask those very questions If anyone has insight... feel free to comment!
FINAL THOUGHTS OF WYNN LAS VEGAS - Move over Wayne Newton... there are now WYNNIACS in Las Vegas Terrible.. I know Seriously though, Steve Wynn has made believers out of us. He's still got IT... whatever IT is. Not sure why we doubted him considering past achievements. That being said, I encourage everyone not to make judgements based on this trip report or other people's/critics reviews ... but rather go to Las Vegas... stay at WYNN... and I'm confident that you will see for yourself, as we have, that Steve Wynn really has built something special that will only improve with time!
That wraps up yet another Vegas Trip report.... thanks for reading & thanks to everyone for their trip reports & advice that have aided us countless times. That is after all why we write these things
