Hotel Stayed At: Harrahs - El Cortez - Stardust

Report by: Steve P. <GSPRINCE2005@NETZERO.COM>
From: Dayton, Ohio
Left Dayton, Ohio at 4:00 in tha a.m. for flight out of Indianapolis, Indiana at 7:35 a.m. Decent flight until flying over St. Louis, pilot had to climb to 37,000 to avoid turbulence, somewhat rocky until reaching LV. Check-in was easy at Harrahs after getting rental from ALAMO/NATIONAL. They got me in around 10 a.m., didn't unpack everything because I was only staying one day on a comp from last trip out to Rio. SuperBowl weekend coming up and I was wearing my Steeler gear and pretty damn proud of it! Played a little video poker for about an hour and decided to have a couple of Glenfiddich shots(15 year old Solera Reserve which I brought with me). View from the room sucked(AC unit and ducts). These rooms don't have safes? I decided to iron my North Carolina Roca wear for the game tonight against Maryland(NC 4 point dogs). Went down to the Sportsbook and played $300 with the points. Long story short, I hit that one when NC beat Maryland by 12 or so! Good start for the trip, now if only I could stay away from the BJ tables!

Called a friend who was already out and picked his cheap ass up at Circus Circus(the place is dirty and don't why a fifty-five year old man with money would want to stay there, but he likes it)!! Go figure that one out. Well I was being cheap and decided not to pay big money and bankroll my Pittsburgh bet by staying at the El Cortez Fri-Saturday on the internet special for $50 a day. Guess what, no safe in the room there either! They do have deposit boxes at the front desk though. We went over to Wynn Resorts and sat up at the Sports bar at the Sportsbook. Great bartender here and a class act during the day, early on Thursday. Met this guy from Chicago(young around thirty)who told me he was betting on Seattle with the points. We talked about an hour and I couldn't persuade him that he was making a mistake. I paid over the money line to bet $3700 to win $2000, that's 185 to win 100. I decided that I was going to watch the SuperBowl here at Wynn's on Sunday and promptly walked down to throw my money in the hat without checking any other casinos and their lines!

I found later that day I could have played 165 to win 100 at the Golden Nugget, Fitzgeralds, and Binion's if I could have held my water and waited a few hours. What the hell, I was thinking that watching the game at Wynn's was my choice and my money. The difference in this trip was using my player's card at Harrahs, they swiped it at the book for bets and comps. I did place another three bets for about $600 on the SuperBowl there and got comp'd, at Wynn's they could care less about that measly $3700 I shelled out. Checking in at El Cortez, there was a Ferrari 612 Scagletti in front and that's the first one I've ever seen($300 thousand)and the idiot had a GPS installed on the dash. My room was over the casino floor and late at night was a trip. Room 245 and I believe I was listening to the craps pit for about a hour before I could fall a sleep. Oh well, went to bed at two and got back up at six in the a.m.

My worst experiences for the trip so far was losing about $350 in the El Cortez Friday, before getting about $200 back on Saturday playing BJ. And the worst was losing $250 on Louisville against Cincy on Saturday at the LV Hilton, also lost about an $100 at VP at the Sportsbook Bar. Long story short I hit the SuperBowl which was the reason for going and lost about $1250 playing BJ at the Stardust, El Cortez, and Golden Nugget for the trip. I did manage to win about $285 when I brought a bet before leaving, taking North Carolina +5 against Duke last Tuesday night when I got home in time to watch that game. So I'll hold that ticket until I go back out for the NCAA Final on April 4. I'm hoping that Duke will play UCONN, don't think North Carolina will repeat this year!!

If you're every in Indianapolis, try St. Elmos restaurant, they have a 24 oz sirloin that will knock you out. Great atmosphere in the city of Indy(what class)! Until the next time, keep the dice rolling and your pants up, GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!!
