Report by: AB FB AND FAMILY <> From: INDIANAPOLIS IN
This was trip number 12 for AB and FB and the first for DM and KB. Since we know Vegas very well we were guides to the others. We left Indianapolis 1 day ahead of Dm and KB, which gave us time to settle in and get ready for them. The flight was uneventful and we landed on time even though we were delayed 30 minutes getting out of Indy.
Check in was a breeze and were given a room in carnival tower on the 28th floor with a view of the Mirage Valcano (which did not erupt one time during our entire stay). AFter we unpacked we pulled out the video camera, which we found out had broken in our luggage, which put a damper on the trip some what. We decided not to purchase a new and save the funds for other entertainment.
We cleaned up and went down to play the slots and hit the strip. I guess we will have to change from quarter and dollar machines to the hidden dollar machines called penny and nickel. We noticed that every casino we went into that penny and nickel machines have taken over the casinos and will cause you to burn through your bankroll faster than any machines on the floor. In all my previous trips to Vegas FB and I have each ahd at least one major hit each which allowed us to play off the casinos for most of the trip but not this time. I believe we only had a few hits of $250 and they came on penny machines.
Rented a car which I would not recommend because unless you are driving away from the Strip, it will sit in the parking garage.
The Strip has become so congested that by the time you get from one hotel to the next, you could have walked and came back.
Shows: Mac King (Good show)
Ron Lucas (ok show) Moving to the strip from the Rio
George Wallace (Very good show)
Mystere (fantastic show) Must see O and KA next trip
Rio Show in the Sky is great free show to see
New Strip hotels are under construction and will again change the Vegas sky line over the next 2 years. There are currently 5 projects going on with 4 more planned after the first of the year. Harrahs we be imploding the Imperial Palace for their new project. The Stardust will also meet its end at the end of the year. Circus Circus, Riviera, and Frontier are soon to follow.
Overall we love Vegas and will try and return in early October.
Entertaimnet: Great
Strip: Fantastic as usual
