Hotel Stayed At: Orleans
Report by: Mike <> From: Milwaukee
Quick two day trip to LV for Superbowl with old girlfriend. Below are the basics:
Received comp offer from Orleans for two night stay and Superbowl Party. Party was pretty good. Open bar and stadium food. The Orleans is a nice hotel. Friendly staff, lots of places to eat and drink, and they are generous with comps. Only potential drawback is location. No other casinos nearby. However they offer a free shuttle to the strip and the Palms/Rio/Gold Coast area every 20 minutes. Fitness center is not the greatest but you can get the job completed. Overall the pluses outnumber the negatives at the Orleans. I would recommend this hotel for the low to medium limit gambler. One other thing is that the Orleans gives you a good coupon book. Everytime I use it for free drinks etc..
Eat alot at the Orleans as they comp my meals through my play. First day eat lunch at Don Miguels. Decent Mexican. To start they give you several types of salsa, bean dip, gacamole, and chips. If you hit this hard, you need not order a lot more. I had fish tacos which were OK and GF had a Ribeye Plate Lunch that she said was very good. Late night (10:30 pm) we hit the Prime Rib Loft. Things were a little hazy at this point, but what I remember was the Prime Rib was very good. We split the smaller cut and a brownie thing with ice cream for desert. The next day for lunch we hit Big Al
's Oyster Bar. Most of the dishes are made in steam pots. The chef cooks your selection in these devices and is a very nice guy. I have eaten here a couple of times and every time was good. After lunch we hit the strip and gambled our way down from the Barbary Coast to Wynn. Across the street from Wynn is the Fashion Mall Outlet. On the first floor of the complex is a resturant called Cafe Ba-Ba Reeba. It is a Spanish resturant that features tapas. Decor is very nice and from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm if you sit at the bar, a selection of tapas and drinks are half price. We ordered a pitcher of blackberry sangria and four tapas. Wine and tapas were top notch. I would highly recommend this place especially during happy hour. Our bill was only $32. Last day eat at greasy spoon--Terrible Mikes at the Orleans. I had a good cheeseburger with fries and GF had a pastrimi sandwich which was huge and fries. For $13 we were beached.
Other than winning a couple Superbowl bets, I got crushed at the tables playing BJ. GF also lost mainly playing slots. I will be back in March to try to recoup loses. Another good thing about the Orleans is that you can get anything you what when you gamble. I am a beer snob and they offer a wide selection of premium beers. Plus you can order high end drinks like sidecars, hand poured margaritas, and call vodka drinks, etc... The Orleans is a good place to stay, gamble, and party.
