Trip Report 2-24-07 / 3-4-07
Saturday thru Sunday - 8 Days
Well.... I'm going to do my best to remember everything but this was a long trip and with all the free booze, I may not get it exactly right. In a nut shell, this was a winning trip. That in itself is an extreme understatement as everything I touched, turned to gold. "Literally".
The experience of winning so much is something the cannot be fully described. My budget on this trip was $5000.00. 8 days duration which is the longest I have stayed in Vegas.
We departed Seattle on America West. Flight on-time and relatively smooth. No hang ups with baggage. 20 minute wait for a taxi which took us to the Texas Station for our 1st night. With tip it was $35. Texas Station is a lot larger than I thought it would be. Very clean, dealers that are nice, awesome food. Speaking of food, we ate at the oyster house. Started with two Lemon Drop Oyster Shooters. Good oysters and good vodka. Wife had a chicken ceaser and I had a crab, shrimp, lobster type stew with rice. VERY GOOD! I left full and continued with beer and shots of CC.
Hit the craps table and tried out some of the things people had told me about. I played the PASSLINE, 6 and 8 and doubled my passline bet on the odds. This was my main bet for the entire week and IT WORKED. I won $248.00 at the crap table. Wife was dumping money into the slots with no real wins. After she went to bed, I played video poker and managed to win another $350.00.
Day 2: My flight instructor had moved to Vegas and picked us up. We went for a ride down the strip and out to the Silverton Casino. They have an ENORMOUS Bass Pro Shops there and it was unbelievable. We had lunch there. The specialty is the chicken fried steak. Being a Texan, I know what makes a good steak. This was the real McCoy. One of the best I've ever had. Played Wheel of Fortune Super Spin and broke even.
Departed Silverton and went to the 4 Queens to check in. I did the $20 dollar bill trick to the desk clerk and got a 4th floor room real close to the elevator. It over looked the Freemont Street. She warned us of the noise but we had stayed in that area before so it was fine. Unfortunately we had no hot water for 3 days. You would be taking a shower and "WHAMMO"!... Ice Cold Water. Then it would go luke warm. Each day we left a $5 tip for housekeeping. Housecleaning staff were all very nice. Hotel clean. Blackjack dealers RUDE as usual.
We had dinner reservations at Hugo's. It was great as usual. Shrimp cocktail with the Filet. Started to really gamble. I decided to go hit the Wheel Of Fortune Super Spin at The Fitz. (WOFSS) Please remember this as it may begin to bore you. Hit the machine and won $248. Good way to start the downtown experience. Went to the 4 Queens craps table.
Won $152. ( Passline, 6-8 and doubled the odds ) Started playing the "HOT HOT PENNY" machines on the northwest side of 4 Queens. Won $560.00, cashed out at $500.00. Went to craps table again after wife went to bed. Cashed out at $515.00. Went to bed feeling GREAT!.
Day 3: Made a beeline for Starbucks at Golden Nugget ( GN ). Then boogied over to the WOFSS at Fitz. I only won $300.00 that time. ( Irritating ) Cashed out the ticket and as I was walking past it to go back outside, a man got up and left a bank. I sat down and put in $40. BAMMO! Won $500.00 when I hit the 10,000 point mark on the wheel. My wife is "poopin" herself at this point. I already did! I was smiling and laughing so much, my jaw hurt.
This does not include the smaller $50 - $100 wins on machines as I can't remember all of them. My wife was doing the gradual "down hill slide" but pretty much holding her own. Left downtown and headed for the Bellagio. Had "O" tickets that were not good at all. Nose bleed section with a rail blocking 1/2 the stage. Spent the entire show sitting on the edge of the seat looking over it and down 4 stories. People talking to the crowd on stage were inaudible way up there. Good show, seats terrible. Dropped about $200.00 at the Bellagio slots while waiting for the show. Walked outside Bellagio and the wind kept us from going any further.
Taxi back downtown. Won another $160 on craps. Pit Boss starts calling me by my first name. Not sure if this is good or bad. Went to bed without spending any of the days funds again.
Day 4: Coffee then walked to the Main Street Station for lunch. 777 Brew pub. All I can say is WOW. Had the JUMBO ( And I mean Jumbo ) Shrimp cocktail and 1 dozen oysters on the 1/2 shell. Very good and filling. Wife had a chicken ceaser I think. It was awesome. Gambled a little at MSS but came up empty. Headed back to Freemont and the WOFSS. You guessed it. BAM! Popped it again for $200.00. Went to 4 Queens and played VP and slots. Played the dreaded 9/5 VP on south wall. Hit (4) 3's with a deuce kicker. Cashed out with $250.00. At this point in time, I am winning so much that all my slot play were MAX bets. It is easy to drop 40 to 80 dollars real quick but when you hit it, you hit it BIG!
Went to Fitz and the WOFSS. Dropped $80.00 with no bonus rounds. Time for a taxi ride to the Luxor for front row seats at Carrot Top. If you haven't seen this show, you are really missing out. I haven't laughed that hard in many years. This guy is hilarious.
Walked down the strip past M&M Factory etc. Walked into Harrah's. Low and behold a WOFSS. My wife and I looked at each other and laughed. I sat down. You guessed it. Popped that nickel version of the game for $400.00. Walked out thanking Harrah's. Jumped in a taxi by Paris and went back downtown. It was a little chilly walking the strip with the wind.
Day 5: Coffee then walked to the Fitz and WOFSS. Dropped $100.00. No wins. Just a couple of small hits. We decided to stay downtown all day and relax. Played craps and came out ahead about $200.00. HOT HOT PENNY was still paying me good with small $100 - $300 hits. I still had not spent any of my own money. Went to dinner at MSS buffet. I am VERY impressed. It was ALL YOU CAN EAT T-Bone Steak night. I asked for one medium rare and GOT IT. This was like a porterhouse with nice tender meat on the filet side. Left stuffed vowing to come back on Friday night for seafood night.
Went back to 4 Queens and played craps and slots. Dropped $100 on craps. Won $450 on HOT HOT PENNY. ( I love it when a plan comes together ) Went to the east end bar in 4 Queens. The female bartender there is very nice and she is good at keeping my liver calcified. Played VP there but hit nothing. Later on, we went upstairs to Magnolias and had 2 bread pudding al la mode. Very good but couldn't finish it. One final walk outside to watch the lights and off to bed.
Day 6: PHANTOM DAY. Made a beeline for Starbucks as usual. I was by myself this time as the wife was getting ready. Kicked around downtown all morning as we had planned to go to the strip early for the show. Can't remember many big wins but we still haven't started to spend too much of our own money. Taxi to New York NY for our normal dinner at Gonzalez y Gonzalez. Had the seafood stuffed tortillas. ( Can't remember the name ) and much shots of Correlejo Reposada. If you haven't tried this tequila, do it. It is great. Boogied over to Venetian for Phantom. Row 4. All I can say is WOW. I was very impressed. The singers were spot on. Superior vocals. Orchestra was great. SUPER DOOPER FAT guy sitting to my left. Took up 1/2 my seat along with his. Some weirdo next to my wife with rings on his thumbs. For some reason this freak thought that everyone had come to hear HIM SING THE FREAKING OPERA. We couldn't get him to shut up. I mean this dude was LOUD. Then had a 7'9" Amazon sitting in front of me. His head took up the entire left side of the stage.
There was not much downward slope to the theater. Special effects, fireworks were awesome. See this show. You will not regret it. Walked outside afterward to watch the Bellagio fountains etc. They were filming some type of show there but didn't see anyone I recognized. Taxi back downtown. Spent the night doing max bets on slots and VP. Held our own.
Day 7: Everything is starting to blend together. Its now hard to remember everything we did and on what day we did it. I guess that's the purpose of going on vacation. To numb the mind. I kept hitting WOFSS on and off. Wins were in the $250 range. I had won so much on it that I decided to just "do a final count" at the end of the trip. At breakfast at the new GN buffet upstairs. They put it in a nice room and the food and service was good. GN dealers are as rude as ever. I don't think many of them speak English because you say hello and they turn their head away from you and shove their nose up in the air.
Day 8: Last full day. Played WOFSS. no hit to start. Went shopping for shirts etc. Hit each casino one last time. Now here is where it gets good. Went to the Fitz. One final shot at WOFSS. I put in some money and my wife says "What the hell, GO FOR IT". I DID..... IT DID! BAMMO again. Had the X4 bet in. Hit the 5000 on the wheel. Cashed out with $468.00. NOW... check this out. Walked back by it again. SAT DOWN. PUT MONEY IN. HIT MAX BET. GOT TO SPIN THE WHEEL. WHAMMO, BAMMO HIT THE 10,000 on the wheel. for another $500.00. $968.00 more on WOFSS all within 10 minutes. That was Vegas' parting gift.
Hit the airport Sunday morning. 2 open first class seats available for the return flight to Seattle. Took 'em. Helluva way to end a great Vegas vacation.
Total expenditures for 8 days in Vegas. A little over $1000.00. That was with taxis, food, t-shirts, booze from the liquor store downtown, etc etc etc. Racked up about 3000 comp points at 4 Queens. Trying to go again in June. I love it when a plan comes together. 8*)
