Sorry for being so late submitting this, but with coming back to the real world (back to work, sick family members, etc.) and losing my notes, this is the best I can do. L
Sunday, 2/3/08
Woke up bright and early for our 8:00 am departure from St. Louis. I printed out our boarding passes the day before and snagged A-25 & A-26. We arrived at airport with plenty of time to spare. Had row 5 with middle and window seat. MrWhitt had window seat. Now, I never knew people did this, but it worked on our flight back. If the plane is not sold out, just leave the middle seat open and it no one wants to sit there, then you’ll have the whole row to yourselves. We loved and appreciated the extra space.
Okay, arrived in Vegas approximately 3½ hours later and I am smiling from ear2ear. Our bags arrive about 15 minutes later and we check in while at the airport at MGM. There wasn’t anyone else in line, but I just wasn’t feeling the check in rep. Was a man, but I didn’t try the $20 trick. Figured since it was Superbowl Sunday it probably wouldn’t work anyway. I did ask for a Strip view on the highest floor possible. We ended up with Room 25-127. So, off to the rental car shuttles and to Alamo where we picked a nice Malibu. I like the new facility, we didn’t have any problems with getting our car and the entire process went smoothly.
We arrive at MGM and it is just the way I remembered it….HUGE!! The walk from the parking garage takes you through the garage, some shops along the way, up an escalator, through the huge lobby, past a little news/convenience shop, to the elevators (must be sure to only take the elevators to your floor….hence pay attention and read), and then finally to your floor. Our elevator was an express one and did skip floors 2-22 (I think), so it was not so bad. Our room was okay, we had a direct center view of NYNY, then off to right Monte Carlo and construction of City Center and to left Excalibur, Luxor, MB, etc. I miss my view staying center strip at TI. Just my opinion, but I prefer center Strip and the TI, Mirage, Venetian, Wynn part of the Strip much better. Okay, we unpack, and chill out awhile in the room, then go play some slots for awhile. MrWhitt watched Superbowl in the room while I stayed downstairs and played slots. I had funny playing various penny and nickel m
achines but didn’t win anything worth talking about. After the game, we both were kind of tired, so we ate in one of the coffee shops (I did get the Fish ‘n Chips) and MrWhitt had a burger & fries. Fish ‘n Chips okay, but his burger was better. We played a little more slots and then crashed for the evening.

Woke up early and drove to one of my favorite buffets for breakfast. The Gold Coast…I love this buffet. Great breakfast for about $7.00. Their desserts are awesome. I mentioned this before but I will say it again and again….if you are a chocoholic, it is mandatory that you try their “Flourless Chocolate Cake” with whipped cream on the side. I am getting giddy just typing this. MrWhitt raved about their lemon meringue pie. I also tried and enjoyed this chocolate mousse cake/pie thing. Yep…Gold Coast buffet definitely has my vote as a good buffet with a great price. After breakfast, we were only able to walk a few feet and planted ourselves at some slots. We didn’t win much, but our money lasted a couple of hours. Since it was MrWhitt’s birthday month, they gave him enough points on his slot card for $7.00.
We made it back to MGM in time for the mini-meet with Rhonda and loverofallthingsvegas. We met at the West Wing Bar in the MGM and I must say, Rhonda and LOATV) are two very nice people. We had great conversation and shared a few laughs about life. Rhonda was so nice to have tee-shirts for everyone, but she left her camera in the car. She took a couple of pics with her camera phone, and MrWhitt tried to take some with mine, but he was having trouble using it….too funny. We finally commandeered some poor soul to take some pics with my camera. I will try to upload it when I find out how. After the meet (yaaay…I attended my first meet), we played some more slots and I found this penny machine that I fell in love with. It is a Brazilian Beauty machine and located right next to this Big 6 Wheel near the elevators and by the Zuri bar (in MGM). I had never played this machine. I think it is a 30 line penny/nickel machine. I kept getting the bonus rounds and before I knew
it I had 220.00 on it. Woohoo…the money was great, but I actually had fun just playing the machine. I also did okay on a Lucky Lemmings (I think this was the name), but the graphics were kind of corny IMHO.
I believe we had dinner at Texas Station this night, but not sure. Can’t remember anything else.

It is MrWhitt’s birthday today and we eat breakfast at MGM (I think). We have tickets for Mystere’ tonight, so we hang around close to our little area of the Strip. The weather was windy and cold, so we visit NYNY during the morning. We have dinner at TI and played some slots before the show. We had center row seats (Section 203) balcony. Just a little FYI. If you are going to see Mystere’…try to get tickets on the second floor. I do not recommend floor or side seats, you miss a lot of the action, which takes place above your head. We both loved the show, which surprised me, because I didn’t think MrWhitt would like it. He was happy and said he had a nice birthday. We didn’t make it to the top of the Stratosphere, but thanks Rhon for the suggestion. Now we have something else to add to our “Things to Do Next Time” List. We walked over to the Venetian and redeemed some free slot play for joining their Player’s Club. I like the Venetian’s casino and wouldn’t mind
staying here, but I am not holding my breath for any offers since our play was minimum. We didn’t make it to the Palazzo either. Headed back to close the night out at MGM.

Now, my memory is really fuzzy and losing my notes is not helping. Let me apologize now, because the next couple of days are just faint memories.
I believe we had breakfast at the Gold Coast. Drove to one of the Station Casinos (maybe Sam’s Town) play some slots, lost some money, came back to home base. MGM. Took in a band playing in one of the lounges, can’t remember name. Ate some junk food (pizza, etc) in food court. Played more slots, went to bed. (ha ha)
Thursday, 2/7/08
I swear, I can’t remember jack. Let’s see. We ate breakfast somewhere, drove to TI, parked in garage. Played some slots there. I think we held our own here, because we were here most of the day. I know I had a couple of daiquiris and several Amaretto sours (which became my drink of choice for this trip). No matter where we were, I ordered Amaretto sours. Don’t know why, but they were really good. Maybe this is also a factor in the fuzzy memory thing. J
Played my Brazilian Beauty machine, but it never paid me again like it did the first time. I still like it, and will check out our local casinos to see if they have it here. This was our last full day in Vegas so I wanted to get in as much as I could. I was starting to get that sad feeling, (you guys know, that kind of gnawing feeling in your stomach…like the good ride was coming to an end.). Well, we hung around MGM most of the day, played slots; I did pretty good on a 25 cent (RWB 4-Star). I don’t know if this is the name of it, but the machine has a star with a 4 on it, a double symbol, and a red seven. It also has RWB bars. I know we have these here, but I never really played them before. Have changed my mind about these now. I make a trip to the business center to print out our boarding passes. Even though MrWhitt brought his laptop, we didn’t have access to a printer. This time we had A-29 & A-30.
Walk back over to NYNY; I like their casino even though I didn’t win much. I would not want to stay here, but the casino was nice. We stayed for the free craps lessons, but I was more confused after the lesson than when the instructor began. Too many rules…You can take your bet only after….You can’t take up you bet once….The Pass is opposite the Do Not Pass…The Come out roll is only 7 or 11…blah blah blah.. (Experienced Craps Players..Please don’t attack me) J No Thanks, I’ll stick with my mindless pushing of the slot button. We drove around to a couple of other places, but I prefer my Vegas weather when I can walk the Strip comfortably. Can’t remember where we ate dinner. I think it was MGM buffet. Played more slots then went to bed. Didn’t get a lot of use out of the car, but it was convenient when we needed it because of the weather.
Friday, 2/8/08
Woke up early, kinda sad, but missed my Sister and Dad. I worry about them and was ready to get back but still was kind of sad leaving Vegas. We ate breakfast at Gold Coast (had to have that Chocolate Flourless cake one more time), hung around there awhile playing slots, then headed back to MGM to pack. Our flight was leaving at 3 PM, so we left to return the car at 11, then off to the airport. The Security lines were not too long and we had over 2 hours to kill. MrWhitt played the WOF slots, but I HATE WOF, so I found some nickel machines to play. Of course, didn’t win anything, but killed an hour. The remaining time, I did some reading until we boarded. Flight delayed about ½ hour waiting on Flight Crew. The SWA Agent announced that the plane would not be full, so I knew I would try the “Leave Middle Seat Open” trick. After crew finally arrived, we selected Row 4 and left middle seat between up open. Worked like a charm. Apparently quite a few passengers did this
because I heard one lady complaining as she was walking down the aisle, that people do this because they just want the whole row to themselves…ya think? Now, if someone would have asked it the middle seat was taken, I would have surely moved over, but there were about 10-15 extra seats, sooooo.
Flight home about 3½ hours, landed safely, got home about 9:00 PM., called sis, fell in bed and the rest is history. Looking forward to my next trip which may be sometime in early October, as my birthday is October 5. Will be staying MID STRIP without a doubt. MGM is okay, but I do not have to stay there again. They did comp all our meals charged but didn’t take off my two remaining rooms. They comped three nights upfront, so I am happy about that. Honestly, our play wasn’t that great this trip and we didn’t win as much as we usually do to get our entire stay comped. Since TI didn’t send me any free room offers, and MGM did, they won out. But our next trip will be my choice and it will be TI or Planet Hollywood. I didn’t make it there either.
My “Things to Do Next Trip List”
1. Planet Hollywood
2. Palazzo
3. Top of Statosphere
4. Price is Right / $250,000 Game Show
Well that’s all for this trip. Hope you enjoyed it. I will try to remember more my next trip. Now, I am depending on the rest of you to keep me going until October. I will wear my new “Open Vegas” Tee-shirt to the next meet.
Ceya!
