My girlfriend who lives in Tennesee loves to gamble and we have taken several gambling trips together over the past few years. Neither of our husbands mind if we do it occasionally. We planned this trip last summer and decided to see who would get the best deal in free or cheap rooms. I received 2 free nights from NYNY and 79 for the third night and one free night at Wynn (!) I have barely gambled there so i was surprised to get the offer. She topped me with 3 free nights at MGM Grand and 2 nights free at Harrah's, so we took her offer. I was driving myself to the airport, so i opted for Bishop Airport in Flint instead of Metro Detroit. Got a 3:00 flight out with a 2 hour layover in Atlanta. It is the first time i have not done a direct flight in many years and it was not too bad, but i would prefer direct. Did have direct redeye back to Flint. Flights were on time with no problems. Arrived in Vegas at 8:50pm and cabbed over to MGM Grand where my friend was waiting for me as she had arrived about noon that day. I have never stayed at MGM as i prefer more the middle of the strip but i have to say i was impressed with the quality of the rooms and the cleanliness of the casino in general. We ate twice at Rainforrest Cafe and it was good everytime. I hit 200.00 on bar video poker the first 15 minutes i was there and thought "alright" and never hit another thing the rest of the 3 nights we were there. Could never do anything more at video poker and while playing at the bar requested a strawberry margarita and was told it would be 10.00!!! I opted for a screwdriver which they would comp while you were playing. Went over to NYNY where i got skinned on 3 card poker and blackjack and Monte Carlo where all i could do is eak out a 4OK at bar video poker. Plant Hollywood was more of the same where i won a couple of silver strikes (20.00 in and 2 10.00 silver strikes out) So after 3 days, i was down about 600 for the trip. We moved to Harrah's for our last 2 days and i much prefer that part of the strip. I immediately hit 2 4ok's close together. I like the smaller casino's like Casino Royale and O'sheas and find i have better luck in them than the large casinos. We went over to Casino Royale where i played some 3 card poker and left up 225.00 and then found a bank of video poker machines that just kept giving me 4ok's every few minutes. Since i play double double bonus poker i got at least 7 250 coin wins and one 800 coin win all within about 1 1/2 hours of play. I couldn't believe it, my luck had turned around. A word about Harrah's, when we checked in I asked for the newer tower and was told that all the rooms had been referbished and the room was certainly ok but the hallways and elevators have seen better days, with scuffed and dirty moldings and the elevators seem pretty neglected. I like the area and the gambling was good, but i would stay elsewhere if i had a choice. Watched the dueling piano's one night and the kareoke and that was fun. By the end of the last night there i had all the money that i had brought to gamble. Yeah! We gambled some in imperal palace and ate at the Grand Luxe Cafe at the Venetian and it was awesome as usual. It is a must every time i go to Vegas. We split a pasta entree and salad and it was more than we could eat. My friend had a 10:00 flight back to Tennesee so she left the hotel at 8:30a.m. and i was on my own until 8:00 that night. I was happily comtemplating my good forture of having all my money and only 10 hours left to gamble before leaving so i decided to go back to Casino Royale and hit those machines again.
