Flew out to Vegas via Spirit air from the new terminal in Detroit. It was a very nice terminal and let me tell you that Spirit is a very nice airline. The only problem there was that I think the legroom in the planes is getting smaller and smaller. And $3 for a soda?? What is up with that.

Our flight left out at 8pm so we were in Vegas in under 4 hours. It was a very smooth flight and the crew was very entertaining. Took the shuttle to the Rental car place and got the runaround from Alamo but after a little work, ended up with a minivan for the 4 of us for $153 for the week. Took off from the rental car booth and headed off to the Trop. Checked in with the 1-L’s into the suite on the 10th floor and had the adjoining room to theirs. Gambled for the rest of the evening with no big wins or losses.

Monday, woke up and stayed at the Trop for most of the day and gambled with only a couple of a 4oak’s on video poker. My wife and I pretty much just play video poker. Around dinner time, we headed out to get the Ellis Island steak special…man what a deal. The steaks were tender and juicy and the green beans are really tasty. Gambled a little there and headed over to the Rio and the Gold Coast for the evening. Ended the day down a little but not too bad.

Tuesday, Woke up with some coffee with bailey’s and whipped cream. What a great drink to start the day. 5 of them is probably much but oh well. Stayed and gambled at the trop for most of the day playing the tables and the machines. Walked over to the Excalibur to take the tram to the Luxor to hit up the Chris Angel shop and get a new shirt. Then went back over to the NYNY and gambled there for a couple of hours. We didn’t do too bad there but ended the evening back at the trop for dinner at the Island Café. Aunt hit the $2100 quarter royal flush later in the evening which was really nice for her.

Wednesday, woke up to the same Bailey’s mixture (with the help of the awesome drink girls at the trop). Hit a $500 4oak, cashed out and then headed out to the M. This is a very nice place. I like the way the new casinos have a drink station for you to get your own drinks. It was a very modern looking casino but a little to cold looking for me. Lots of wood and marble. Played there for about 2 hours and then headed downtown to the Golden Gate for the $.99 shrimp (actually 2 of them). Played there at the Las Vegas club as well as the Golden Gate with no big wins. From there we headed over to the Hard Rock and man, the music in their casino was rockin. Loved it. The 1-L’s signed up for their cards and if they earned 100 points on it got a $50 gift card to AGO Italian. They each earned in and we ended up there Thursday for Dinner.

Thursday, well you know the morning routine. After that, headed over to Planet Hollywood and gambled there. Uncle did well but I just couldn’t get anything going. The music again there was rockin. Hit up Flamingo, Harrah’s, Caesars just to name a few while we were down that way. Did a little shopping all along the way for my son. Went back to the trop and walked over to Hooters for a little Deal or No Deal. Wife really liked that. Finished up at the Trop for the evening.

Friday, We had to fly home this day. Our host gave us a 6pm checkout but at around 2pm we went to go up to the room and our door was locked. Went back down to the front desk and they said the whole front tower was being emptied for what they called was water type problems. Not sure if that was the case but oh well…Walked over to Hooter to purchase some gifts and then to MGM to get a couple of gifts there. Stayed at the Trop most of the evening. Our flight was at 10pm for the redeye which we dropped off the car and headed to the airport for.

Observations:
Flights were good except for a little suspicious activity over Chicago with two guys on the plane but the crew took care of that.
Food. I think Ellis Island is one of the best deals in Vegas. Shrimp were always great. The trop needs some help with their food choices.
Gambling was not too good to us but we still had a great time. Uncle did very well in the 4oak area.
Tropicana is very very very tired and I’m hoping they talk about upgrading the place. If not, we may not be back there again. If not, I sure will miss the drink girls and the close proximity to all the gambling.
Town seemed pretty busy to me. I’m sure there were places that weren’t too busy but the town was still great.

I really can’t wait to go back. Not sure if Oct will be the next trip or not. We will see when the time gets closer.

Thanks for all the great reports! See you in Vegas Baby!
