Las Vegas Trip Report Las Vegas Entertainers |
Received a nice e-mail discount price offer from the Monte Carlo and am very glad I did. Arrived at Payless rent-a-car where I had booked a week @ $135.00, ended up costing $280.00(Payless my A_S), wouldn't recommend them at all but the rest of the trip was great. After a brutal drive to the hotel(President O bama was in town & police had traffic STOPPED all over. Finally arrived at the Monte Carlo where the valet asked me "How'd ya like the traffic?" Got on line to check in and had to wait 2 minutes before I was greeted,(the nerve), seriously was quite impressed. Requested a strip view high up, got a room on the 17th floor, nice view of MGM Grand, but that monstrocity they're building next door(i.e. TownCenter) completely blocks what was once a nice view of the Bellagio. Room was nice, adequate size with nice cherrywood furnishings. Unpacked, went to the casino awaiting a call from my father who was tp arrive after me. Played at a VP machine with a terrible pay table, but hit 4 of a kind aces, with some kind of bonus, doubled my money and went to pick-up Dad. Asked dad if he'd prefer a sit down dinner or something quick, he said let's go to Jack-in the box(we don't have them in the east) and play VP at the silverton. He lost 10 bucks, I won ten bucks, we had fun but he was ready for bed. Went back to the monte Carlo, he went to bed, I went to the poker room. Played a little 2-4 limit Texas hold-em(practice as I was playing in the World Series of Poker following morning) won $30 and called it a night. 3 sessions net profit of $60.00, great start to an enjoyable week. Forgive my being long winded, I had such a wonderful time I guess I got carried away. Anyway, here's some of the pertinent information I'd like to impart. The Monte Carlo was nice, the staff is extremely friendly. Shows, Mac King @ Harrah's is well worth seeing, Fitz of Laughter, was interesting and show coupons are available, see Fitzgerald's downtown and Donnie & Marie over at the Flamingo could be the best show on the east side of the strip. Restaurants, "Top o' the World" at Stratosphere is absolutely first rate for a special night. The steak and seafood at Legends' at the Tropicana is wonderful, the Surf n' turf special Wednesday night at the Tuscany can't be beat. For you late night snackers both Southpoint and Terrible's have unbeatable breakfast menus. Hope i didn't bore you and here's wishing all my fellow Vegas nuts all the best.
